Day #1---

I have been over weight or obese my whole married life, 20 years this June.
I enjoy all aspects of food. I eat when I am happy, sad, stressed, frustrated and even when I am hungry.
I only blame myself for allowing my weight to get this out of control where at times I don't feel like participating in life. This is not fair to me or my family something has to change!
My co-worker has high cholesterol and didn't want to start taking any of the Statin medications so instead she did some major research online. Which lead her to the Eat to Live website. She has been eating according to his rules since after Christmas. Not only has she decreased her cholesterol but she lost 10 pounds and she said she has never felt better.
For a couple weeks she has been talking to me about it... it is obvious that I am not looking that good in my srcubs... now that I think about it there are some that I don't like to wear because they are too tight.
I have to do something... so why not a life style of eating change right before we pack up and move to a new state!

So here it is day #1
4.21.2014
Monday

Breakfast was this smoothie:
3 oz Kale
2 oz spinach
1 banana
1 cup blueberries (I used Blue, black and strawberries, since that is what I had)
1/2 cup almond milk
1/2 cup blueberry pomegranate juice (no added sugar, 100% juice)
1 T ground flax

I thought it was very good. How ever I have quite the head ache and I really wanted cinnamon and sugar toast to start the day.

Before lunch was ready I was getting hungry and ended up eating a kiwi, which tasted good, in fact it seemed I little sweeter than normal. I also made my eldest some lunch and since I have such bad habits in the kitchen I ended up eating a corn chip while I was putting her lunch together! After I ate it I realized what had just happened.
This soup was right out of his book Eat to Live, it was okay, not great. In fact I really would have rather had chips and salsa! I did change a few things in the soup, I didn't have large tomatoes so I used grape tomatoes, I used 3 T of fresh garlic, I added a handful of red peppers and I added thyme since it smelled so boring.

I am planning on making a salad with pears for dinner (again straight from the book)I have a head ache so I am going to go and have a large glass of water and then go for a quick walk.

I am going to make this life change work, I just have to plan ahead and make sure there are enough items for us to eat so that if we need a small snack we can have something on hand.
